Content bear - What is it?
The Content Bear belongs to the rare breed of SEO bears and was created by SEO-Vergleich.de as part of the SEO Contest 2021. The contest is a voluntary competition that will enter a new round in May. The aim of the contest is to have the best ranking position on the Google SERP (Search Engine Result Page) for a specific keyword after a set period of time. In order to guarantee a fair evaluation, this keyword must be a freely invented word that is announced to all participants at the same time.
In 2021, this freely invented keyword is now Contentbär.
Who are the partners of Contentbär?
Who can become a Content Bear winner?
Anyone can actually take part. The competition is aimed equally at SEO service providers, i.e. agencies or freelancers based in Germany who offer the service of search engine optimization on their website, and at people and companies who do not offer this service in their usual service portfolio.
What are the reasons for participating in Contentbär?
By taking part in the SEO contest, you can test your own level of knowledge and the techniques you use and compare them with the competition. This allows you to draw conclusions about your own skills and identify areas where there is potential for improvement. Furthermore, parallel to the implementation of one’s own measures, the measures of the competition can be analyzed and successful strategies can be adapted for one’s own benefit in later projects. The aim of the Content Bear Contest is therefore one thing above all: learning!
Is there anything for real content bears to win?
What would a contest be without some great prizes? The prizes are awarded in two categories: The first category includes SEO service providers who perform search engine optimization professionally. First to fifth place are rewarded with prizes for their outstanding performance. The prizes range from specialist certificates, seminars and training courses to premium memberships of various tools and services.
The top three non-SEO service providers also received an award and prizes ranging from an annual subscription to a magazine to an SEO book and licensed tools.
How long does the MISSION Content Bear last?
The SEO Contest 2021 starts on May 10 at 11 a.m. with the announcement of the secret target keyword and ends on June 14 at 11 a.m.
Which SEO techniques can be used?
It is up to the participants themselves to decide which techniques to use. Everything is allowed! To keep the competition fair, we ask you to refrain from negative SEO that harms the competition.
How are the winners determined?
The ranking positions of the participants for the keyword Contentbär are determined via XOVI’s Ranking Live Check. The ranking position for three special key dates is relevant for the distribution of points. The points are then awarded depending on the position. Only organic search results on Google are evaluated. Paid ads on Google Ads or images are not counted. At the end of the contest, the points from the three key dates are added together and result in the overall ranking, with the points being weighted differently.
Scoring:
1st place: 10 points
2nd place: 9 points
3rd place: 8 points
….
10th place: 1 point

The SEO bear ranking
Since the keyword of this year’s SEO contest is content bear, we thought we would use this occasion to determine the popularity of the individual bears (species), whether fictitious or real. To accomplish this task, we used Google Ads’ “Keyword Planner” to find out the average monthly number of search queries.
The free keyword planner from Google Ads is a useful tool for getting an approximate idea of the reach of individual keywords. This can be a useful tool both for keywords to be defined in a Google Ads ad and for the definition of a keyword in the SEO optimization (search engine optimization) of a website. This tool is therefore not only recommended for advertisers, but also for companies or private individuals who want to create a website or optimize an existing website for a better ranking in Google’s organic search results or the Google SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages).
Based on the average monthly search queries, we have created a ranking of the most popular or most searched bears:

What is SEO?
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is an important part of search engine marketing. It involves optimizing the content and structure of a website for search engines such as Google or Bing. The aim of SEO is for the website to achieve a good search engine ranking for relevant search queries and to be displayed as high up as possible in organic searches. This increases the visibility of the website and ensures that potential customers can also find the site.
What is content anyway?

What types of content are there?
Texts: Blog article, press release, newsletter
Images: Gifs, slidershow, photos, infographics
Videos: Commercials, product videos, tutorials, webinars
Sound: Music, Podcast
What role does content play?
Content plays a fundamental role in online marketing and is crucial to the success of a website. Content is the best way to address users and customers and should offer users added value and inform and entertain them. It is also important that the content is adapted to the context and addressed to the right target group. Good content increases the number of visitors and ensures that users stay on the site for longer. As a result, search engines such as Google assign a higher relevance to the website, which improves the ranking.

The Contentbär mid-term analysis of the 2021 SEO contest
In the mid-term analysis of the 2021 SEO contest “Contentbär”, Martin Brosy and Alexander Walz analyze the progress of the contest so far in a YouTube video. In addition to general assumptions and explanations as to which factors could lead to a better ranking/placement in the Google SERPs for the Content Bear, the two experts analyze several example pages from the participants.
The main hypothesis put forward by the two experts is that Google currently favors the backlink profile of the domain over the backlink profile of the exact URL. Accordingly, the domain rating appears to have a greater influence on the ranking than the URL rating. The reason given for this is that the backlinks of the exact URL have not yet been able to develop their full strength and some of them may not yet be included in the ranking. Due to the flow of linkjuice, the specific content bear page is primarily promoted by the backlink profile of the domain and its linkjuice. It would take about a month (according to the experts’ experience) before the URL rating could have a greater influence.
The two then embark on a Content Bear SEO journey through the pages created by the participants. There is a big surprise on the first contestant page: the URL rating is probably a decisive factor after all, as the page has one of the best URL ratings, but not an overly strong domain rating.
The two provide another important point when analyzing the next page. This is the page of a taxidermist. Among other things, it sells bear skins and bear claws. The structure of the content, the design of the site and the domain and URL rating mean that this website should not be listed at the top. The reason given by Martin Brosy and Alexander Walz is that the Google algorithm is still unable to correctly assess the meaning of the word content bear and the connection to the animal bear still exists. The fact that the taxidermist has a lot of bear content on his site probably gives him the boost he needs. They also suspect that the low domain and URL rating is a display error, as the inbound backlinks are very strong.
The rest of the journey through the content bear jungle highlights the content of the individual pages. There are some creative approaches to passing on the content to users through fun and games.
